In September 2024, we began our UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award Journey and were delighted to be awarded our Bronze Award in April 2025.We are now working towards the Silver Award, with the aim to reach GOLD.
Initially, the children learned about the ABCDE rights of a child and they thought about their wants and needs and then their needs and rights. It was very interesting hearing their reasoning. This has now been developed with each class creating their own Rights Respecting charters and learning more about the RR Articles through worship and Learning for Life lessons.
Staff have also been developing their understanding of Rights through INSET training, staff meetings and the training resources on the RR website pages. We have two RR Year 6 ambassadors - Daisy and Rafferty and they lead the RR Council which is made up of children in all classes.
Governors recognise the value of our RR journey and parents get information through newsletters and through the events that the children are leading, such as community coffee mornings.
