Collective Worship

Bolney CE Primary School 15.11.17

Through worship in school we have been exploring 1 Corinthians 13. We have been unpicking what it means and how it can guide us in how we should behave. Each week we looked at a different section of the passage and related it to our lives now. We explored how love can be like shaving foam, it can be kept inside but when it is let out of the can it expands and overflows. We learnt about the amazing Malala Yousafzai and thought about how parents support their children and express their love in lots of different ways. The children talked about what they love to do and how it makes them feel and how love can continue even when something ends. In each worship we reflected on how we can show love for the people around us. The children were asked: “How did exploring 1 Corinthians 13 make them think, feel and act?” Here are some of the things they wrote:

How much the world needs these things and how I can help it.

It made me think how important love is.

About how I should probably love more.

It made me think how lucky I am to have true friends and family.

At peace, more connected with the world.

It made me feel happy.

Happy because I always knew love was like this.

It made me feel special because me and a lot of other people have all of this.

It made me want to act happier and more patient.

Kindly, patiently, helpfully.

More loving and more respectful.

It makes me want to help others rather than myself.

There were so many wonderful comments it was hard to choose just a few to share with you. We have been so impressed with how the children have been so thoughtful.

Being shown love

We have been shown lots of love by the Friends of Bolney, our PTA, who do such an amazing job supporting us. They have raised a fantastic amount of funds through their various fundraising activities, giving up lots of time and a huge amount of hard work.  All of this has paid for so many things including: reading books, dictionaries, gardening equipment, maths resources, a visiting theatre, role play screens, book stand, reading corner cushions, coach costs, lunch trollies and a newly resurfaced playground! Thank-you so much to everyone who have supported us and an especially big thank-you to the small group of parents and friends who plan, co-ordinate and organise everything. We really do appreciate it and are very grateful for your kindness and love
